Astronomers like dark clear skies and New Mexico is known for that. Here at Two Ponyz Ranch we have a good level place for them to set-up equipment in an environment free of traditional street and household lighting. We are proud to offer stargazers a Bortle Scale Class 1 for viewing. The photo was taken here at Two Ponyz Ranch during the winter and is of the Triangulum Galaxy. At 3 million light years from Earth it is the most distant object visible to the naked eye from a dark site.

"Come experience the dark night skies of Two Ponyz Ranch and the greater Mountainair area! Measurements of night sky quality (SQM readings average 21.65) confirm how dark this place is, which makes it a wonderful location to take in the stars and get a clear view of the cosmos. Nearby Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument (Abo, Quarai, and Gran Quivira) offer occasional public night sky programs - check their website for dates. The Monument, managed by the National Park Service, was designated as an International Dark Sky Park in 2016. So come visit, relax, and take in the wonderful night sky."
